Why is there so much graffiti in mainland Europe?
In countries such as Switzerland there's graffiti all along the walls alongside train tracks, Rome's metro trains are covered completely in it. Why is this?
According to the NY Times, some Europeans see graffiti as a way to "reclaim a city and shape the environment." The problem exploded in the early 1980s when rebellious European rebels began copying New York graffiti.

what are you thoughts on graffiti ?
im talking about the colourful peices. not the tags and filth you see on fences.. do you consider it a crime to see beautiful amazing graffiti art on the train tracks ?
While I do find some graffiti to be extremely well done in terms of use of color, shadowing, etc., it IS vandalism. It makes places look trashy. I think that people who have the talent to make well done graffiti also contain the talent to make peices of artwork that heighten the quality of a location instead of trash it up.
