Why aren't parents more responsible?

Ok, I've been reading many answers on the teaching section of Y!A and have noticed that many people have some gripe against teachers! One person even went as far as to blame teachers for the graffiti in his neighborhood! Ummm, excuse me? Shouldn't the parents of those bums on the street be held responsible for not disciplining their monsters?
And we get paid a lot? EXCUSE ME? uh yes, life is sweet when you're living paycheck to paycheck.
It's time all of you who think teachers suck, need to step into any classroom and see if you could do a better job! Oh, and go discipline your own troubled kids.

I know how you feel, but I don't have an answer as to why parents aren't more responsible; lack of parental skills perhaps? But I know where you are coming from, I get frustrated a lot also, for instance, I teach Grade 3 and last year I had so much difficulty getting homework back (I know, not a big issue, but kids need to develop homework skills for the later grades and its parents who need to instill this skill, my opinion). I know, I'm soppose to be rich as well! yea, if I was I would have gone somewhere exotic for summer vacation instead of the local beach!
