Am I the only one who dis-likes Sydney?

i've lived here all my life and in my time i have seen this once great city turn slowly into a crime ridden poo hole. yes the city does have its ups like a beutiful harbour and great beaches and weather but it's ruined by crime, graffiti ghetto areas and an overall feeling of overcrowdedness.

i think this place is a hole and don't see whats so good about it. the only thing is there is lots to see such as shows and that but thats if you dont get mugged going to them!

does anyone else on here wish to leave sydney too? am i nuts in hating this place? i think i might head up north to the gold coast!

It's a city I had great expectations for, but I was really disappointed. My dad was working on a project there in 04-05, so we made several long trips to Sydney and I didn't have the best experience. I loved Paddington, the Rocks, Palm Beach and Bondi Beach, but overall I wasn't fond of the city. The traffic there was just appallingly bad to the point where I got a newfound appreciation for LA's infamously overcrowded freeways. It was so intensely hot and humid in December that it became unbearable. We spent a lot of time in museums to be in air conditioning.

I was surprised about the crime there, too. Of all the places we've traveled to - including several Third World countries - the only one where anything was even stolen was in Sydney, and it happened twice in rather posh areas. Our house in Point Piper was robbed, and amongst the stolen items were my laptop and heirloom jewelry. There was a ring my great grandmother had given me that had been a gift to her from my great grandfather on their first anniversary that I wore everyday, and it was incredibly painful to have it stolen. Just one week later our car was broken into in Paddington.

On the upside, I did meet some really lovely people there.

If you're truly unhappy in Sydney you should move to the Gold Coast or even just another area of the city.
