Can any of you see things metaphorically collapsing around you?

I can, in my school.

I remember my first day at my school - there was a mural of photos of well-known celebrities who had visited the school, alongside their autographs. There was hardly any graffiti, no chewing gum on the floors, and the success rate was beyond satisfactory.

I'm in my last year now, and it is heaving with knock-off tracksuits, under-achievers, broken glass, unfinished classrooms, chewing gum, etc. To put it bluntly, it looks like the buildings themselves have given up.

In my first year, the GCSE success rate was just under 80%. It's gone down to 55%.

Anyone else's school declining in their last year, or are you a lucky individual?
Fair point there, I suppose it's literal.

In my first year at my school, it was statistically the 6th best school in the county.

Now, in my fifth year at the school, it recently ranked as the 4th worst school in England and Wales (based on the exam results of last year, that is).

Enough said.
