Photography: beginner help!?
So, I have had a Nikon D40, kit lens, a bigger zoom lens, and a tripod for a while now. I havent used it much but fooled around with stopmotion once. Im taking a tv studio class so ive learned a lot about lighting and plan on getting some lights, more tripods, and a bounce flash soon. Is there any beginner sites to help a beginner photographer know what to do in post? I can get all the professional software for free (cough torrent cough) but I dont really know the right foot to start on. What program should I use to tweak my photos? Photoshop? What things should I change? If im trying to do graphic design on a photo. Example: not sure if this is graffiti or done in post, but just to give you an idea: http://c3.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/images02/6/l_7887828ddf9f4f828a1b16d30139b69a.jpg Do people use photoshop or illustrator to do these kinds of things?
Gimp is a fairly powerful and useful free photo editing software.
Just do a google search.
Photoshop is the industry standard, but for "tweaking" there are many free options.
What you should change will depend on what your photo is like to start with and how you would like it to be different. Cropping, adjusting exposure a bit and color balance might be some things to look at.
