What's the best drawing tablet out there for beginners?

Hello! I'm 16 and just started taking interest on digital art a few weeks now and I started to draw with the pen and tablet my school has and it's amazing :)
I'm just wondering which kind of tablet to buy to draw accurate and smooth drawings. So which is the best tablet? I heard Wacom is good with its bamboo pen.
I'm looking for a pen that's good in Photoshop, Sketchbook Pro, and Facebook Graffiti.
I'm trying to draw my friend :)
Thanks.

Wacom is the most trusted and widely used brand. That's what I recommend. But Wacom has a few options for you to choose from.

I've used/owned pretty much all of them at one point (Wacom Bambo, Wacom Intous4, Graphire, Cintiq) and there are a few things to keep in mind when you buy one.

1. Size. There are small tablets ad there are large ones, and everything in between. People usually think bigger is better, but that isn't always true. It comes down to preference. Your tablet will be mapped to your screen size (you can change the settings for that but this is usually what people default to). So, the mapping means that the active area of your tablet will be in proportion to your screen. If you have a small tablet and you're using a 27 inch display, a small movement on you tablet will equate to a large jump of the cursor on the screen. Similarly, if you have a large tablet and you're on a 13 inch Macbook Pro, your hand has to travel a larger distance to move the cursor a relatively small distance. So, what I'm saying is it helps to consider what type of screen you'll be working on.

2. Price. Because it's always an issue. The Bamboo and Bamboo Fun are among the cheapest, and not surprisingly....the smallest. Next on the price bracket is the Intous, which depending on the size (small through XL) can range from $300-800, or something close to that, I dont remember the exact number off hand. What you get with the Intous4 versus the Bamboos is more Express Keys, which are basically buttons on the tablet you can assign tasks to like copy, past, go to url,.....pretty much anything you want. You also get double the level of pressure sensitivity as well as some custom stylus nibs. On the far end of price is the Cintiq, which runs about $2000. The Cintiq has basically all the perks of the Intous4, except its an LCD tablet, meaning you're basically drawing on your screen, rather than drawing on one surface (tablet) while looking at another (the monitor).

These days, I have a Cintiq, which I love, but I still have the first Bamboo Fun I ever bought. I take it with me when I travel. It still works great and I can still get quality results out of it.

My recommendation for a first time tablet purchase is the Bamboo Fun. The reason is that you're not gonna break the bank buying something you may decide you don't even like using. The size is bigger than the Bamboo or Bamboo touch, which is a plus. And as far as not having the extra pressure sensitivity of the Intous4....to be honest, unless you're a seasoned pro whose been using tablets for years, you wouldn't even notice the subtle difference between the two.

Eventually, if you decide you like using the tablet, you can always upgrade to something a little more expensive.
