Help needed - Advice/Opinion on drawings and advice on sending drawings to big brands?
I am 15 years old and people have told me i am talented at art and that i should submit shoe designs to leading shoe companies like nike, converse, vans or adidas.
My art is heavily influenced by the pop art movement(especially Roy Lichtenstein), and graffiti, freehand and stencil(like banksy).
If you visit my flickr page, then you will find various examples of my pop art, and my first ever converse shoe design. Please give me advice on my drawings, with things i need to improve on, and can you please help me with the following questions:
- What brands should i submit my designs to?
- What would these brands expect to receive (like what type/how many drawings)?
- Would they like my drawings?
- Would i have the potential to be accepted?
- Would i get my drawings back?
Advice from people who know about this stuff, think they know, or who have had previous experience with this...

I must say that the shoe design is good, so try doing fifty more! If you're serious about submitting your designs, do a lot more, and pick the twenty best ones or so. Make sure it looks professional--presentation is very important. I know it sounds bad, but I would avoid mentioning your age, see if you can get in the door before they find that out! When I was your age, I got a number of gigs that way. They say that the work should speak for itself. If they like it, they'll contact you. A lot of places will keep your work for the future, or will call you to pick it up when they're through. To avoid worrying too much about that, never submit original work, just prints, and make sure the folder is inexpensive--but still nice. As far as which brands to apply for, hit all the major companies, but also some of the smaller shoe companies that might be more open to new design. It's really all about the numbers. Remember that there are alot of other people looking for work that have degrees in product design. And on a side note, the pop art studies are well drawn, but have you considered taking what you've learned from duplicating them and creating your own drawings in a similar fashion? Also, if you enjoy drawing in this way, it would be very beneficial for you to learn Adobe Illustrator--that program lends itself to your style, and allows for very easy color changes while keeping the same design.
