Graffiti Legality

Do you think graffiti is art or vandalism?

PLEASE GIVE REASONS AS TO WHY YOU THINK SO. JUST BECAUSE SOMETHING IS ILLEGAL DOES NOT MAKE IT WRONG SO DO NOT GIVE ME AN ANSWER ABOUT THE LEGALITY OF IT.
NICE ANSWERS SO FAR, BUT, JUST TO MAKE IT CLEAR, WHEN I SAY "GRAFFITI" I DO NOT MEAN THE FANCY LETTERS, I MEAN ACTUAL IMAGES, LIKE MURALS.

It depends who you are asking. I think it's art, but some people may think it's annoying or conected to "gangs" (which it's typically not, especially pieces others than tags).

It's definitely a skill. I don't think tags are really artistic, and bombs to me are borderline. The bombs cope does are really good, but most people's are just ok. But that's just my opinion. Now, the murals, those are usually legal because typically the building it is done on has allowed them to do it because it's definitely not something quick that can be done in under a few minutes.

Basically, I think it is art, but I also think there are a lot of morons who make graffiti's image relate to negative connotations. People who go around tagging businesses just have no respect. People who go and create pieces in tasteful locations where it can be seen are more respectful, therefore, people become more tolerant of it.

I like graffiti, I know a lot of graffiti artists, I also know of a lot of highschoolers who think it's cool to go out and tag every stop sign they see.
