Cultural artifact of America?

- Explore narratives of Americanism as expressed in a cultural artifact
- Think of “America” or “American” as a “concept of reality” that is “diffused throughout society” through news media, music, television, public figures, books, magazines, etc.
- Cultural artifacts can be anything found in a culture (such as poems, television programs, YouTube videos, photographs, paintings, graffiti, textbooks, etc).
- Select an artifact and explore what is says about “American culture”
- What does a history of republicanism say about what an American is? How?
- What does your artifact say is “American” or an “American value”?
- How does your artifact advance or challenge different narratives of America / American? (Your artifact might speak against dominant narratives!)

I need help finding a cultural artifact! What does it mean to be an America? What is American culture?

Coke bottle, McDonald's arches, Disney characters, 100 dollar bill, the list goes on. All of these objects have a world wide recognition and are often copied.

Look at the history of coke, McD's or Disney. Mostly it's the American dream.
