As Basil Bunting wrote about Ezra Pound's Cantos, "There are the Alps... you will have to go a long way round/if you want to avoid them." Led Zeppelin's work is the central fact of 1970s rock & roll; in its loving homage to and shameless piracy from the blues, its glorious and wretched excess, its transformation of hippie and folk-rock graces into a foundation-shaking kaboom, and its offhanded myth-making, the band turned everything caught in its wake into a reaction to it--or against it...

Personalising any of the Valentines Day gifts that are available means adding your own mark to them. By doing so, you show the recipient that you truly love them and know what they like, but the reality is actually that creating photo gifts with the use of your design is actually a simple process. You simply pick the item you want, send the photo and other design elements you want included and wait for the gift to arrive in the post. Below are 5 of the most popular photo Valentines Day gifts available.
1 - Canvas Prints And Montages
Choose a picture and have it printed on canvas, or alternatively pick a selection of your favourite shots and have them converted into a single great looking montage display. The photo montage can be added to any photo gift but it does look extremely effective when printed on the natural canvas. A lifelike image reproduction as well as incredible colour contrast makes canvas prints a very popular choice.
2 – Photo Cushions And Blankets
Cushions and blankets personalised with your pictures not only make great looking, loving gifts, but they also offer comfort and pleasure to the recipient. Both are available in a good selection of sizes and special Valentines cushions enable you to add your favourite picture inside a heart shaped frame. A heart zipper is then added, topping off what is one of the most romantic of all personalised Valentines Day gift ideas.
3 – Photo Books And Albums
Photo albums have been around virtually as long as personal cameras and while the introduction of digital cameras has seen many people storing their pictures on hard drives rather than in boxes or cupboards, the photo albums still has a genuine place in our lives. The photo album enables you or the recipient to add the pictures that you like the most but you could opt for a photo book whereby you pick the pictures and have them printed directly to the page. Books and albums both allow you to design the cover and include a personalised presentation box.
4 – Personalised Box Of Chocolates
Especially for Valentines Day, you can buy a personalised box of romantic chocolates. The chocolates themselves are created by a professional chocolatier from Notting Hill while the box is personalised with a message of love and with the recipients name to make it an extra special box of chocolates.
5 – Photo Bags
Many different styles of bag can be customised with pictures, photos, text, and other designs. Handbags and makeup bags are ideal as gifts for the girls, while carry alls and even laptop bags are excellent Valentines Day gift ideas for men or women. You don't have to use photos to personalise bags, you can use your own artwork or design or you can add a text message and have it printed in a unique graffiti font.

becks- i think that you're on the right track about Def Ed- sounds like a wonderful organization, and i will have to look into how to support/endorse it. hip hop is part of oakland, and oakland's history, and graffiti is part of that, as they've recognized. commissioning it, and recognizing it as art, and providing public space for it, is an awesome idea. marginalizing already marginalized people sounds like, well, typical oakland policy.
i just think blaming graffiti is off track. providing solutions and moving forward is the right solution- which you're doing. thank you!
navigator- it's funny you'd mention walnut creek, my idea of a corporate, tract, hell. you can barely pay me to drive (or take a $5 dollar bart ride) out there, let alone imagine reimagine my beloved oakland in the image of that plastic place. i do not want downtown oakland to look like a mall built on top of a mall! (by the way, i don't think Pest is an “a$$hole”. i don't know him/her. i know his/her work, and like to document it. i have some recommended reading for you, though if you're interested. here's a short version, online: http://www.amazon.com/Crimes-Style-Graffiti-Politics-Criminality/dp/1555532764 is a great book if you feel like really delving into the “who” and “why”, and “getting up” is a great book that discusses all sorts of facets of NYC graff. (just so you know i'm not talking out of my ass- i've read probably 25 graffiti books and have never touched a pen or spray can to a piece of property.))
Settle for one, that would be the best idea. And then learn how to express yourself. I'm guessing that you have an English class, so pay attention and read the book. The best way to learn how to write well, is read, read, read a lot! And then write a lot too. It doesn't matter if you're not writing about your story, so long as you are writing things down, and making yourself better. That's what I did. Write and read. Form your ideas and write about them in a journal. Jot things down that come to you at night, at school, or whenever. Keep pen and paper close so you can write, a lot.
