how do they make stencils for the graffiti?

like would they have to use posterboard although poster board is expensive here 
show me tutorial or somethin??
I've used cardboard, paper, posterboard, overhead transperancy sheets. Just about anything you caqn cut into can be used for making a stencil. Design wise you either draw from hand, or if you are creating from a photograph you can use photoshop's threshold function to create the image (which I only tend to use for complex, multi layer stencils so that they align perfectly).
