I have to come up with an item that I believe deserves to be in an art museum that isn't yet. then i have to write an essay to the "board" a.k.a. my class explaining why it deserves to be in the art museum. I know it seems easy but im having a hard time. i already did a project on graffiti being art so i cant do that again...bummer. thanks in advance for your help. by the by...where do these lit teachers come up with these projects lol

I agree that advertising campaigns have brought out some really cool "art" over the years. Look at Coca Cola over the years. And things like retro ads that are making a return to print. Find a product that you like and that has been around for at leat a good 25-50 years. Find old ads online. Kodak has some cool old ads online. Early autos and food products were huge advertisers in the 50's. 
Make it something fun...I know how professors are. They have to make sure you know how to think about things in creative ways. If you view your assignments more as an adventure than a chore, it helps - and projects like this can be a LOT of fun...but then again I'm a designer and love this kind of stuff.
