Graffiti Art Journals What is your opinion on graffiti?
I have heard people say that graffiti is an art, while others say that it is vandalism. Personally, I love the style of graffiti. I think that to draw in graffiti style takes artistic skills(knowing where to shade, which colors to place together, etc) However, I am against graffiti when it is drawn illegally. When you keep a journal, canvases, etc. full of graffiti drawings, isn't that the same as keeping a journal or canvas of landscape paintings? If everyone started painting landscape paintings illegaly on public walls, would that mean that painting landscapes EVERYWHERE including personal notebooks, etc. would be "bad"?
So what is your opinion on graffiti? Why do some people think it's still bad when you only draw it in your own personal sketchbooks?
Why are some of you becoming very defensive? For the second time, I am NOT promoting vandalism. I am asking your opinion on graffiti when it is not vandalism.
Sometimes graffiti is art, I like it when its good.
Sometimes graffiti is just ugly marking of territory.
Good graffiti should be preserved, bad graffiti should be obliterated. But who is to judge? Maybe every city should have designated graffiti walls which change daily and at the whims of artists.
