Is it time to bring back stocks and flogging?


With so much petty crime and anti social behaviour, and an obvious failure of the criminal Justice system to offer any deterrent, is it time to return to tried and tested ways?
These young scallywags, in their hoodies and burberry caps, drinking cider, copulating, assaulting our fine old people, and spraying their graffiti in our towns and cities, don't seem to take notice of ASBOs or community service orders.
Would a few hours in the stocks in the town centre, or a good public flogging, reduce their recidivist ways?
The Isle of Man still has the birch for these young scoundrels, and has the lowest youth crime rates in the Uk.
So, should we start beating the blighters or pelting them with rotting vegetables?

Frankly flogging sounds like an awful lot of work to me right now; I say, "Off with their head", in one fell swoop. Bet the word would get around quickly. I do like the proposed terminology, though, of ****.

Excellent idea. We've gone too soft on punishment in schools, in the home, in the church and in the judiciary. Incidentally, a good spanking helps to keep the memsahib on her toes!!
